Whether they’re from acne, surgery, or trauma, the thing that all scars have in common is that they’re sometimes unsightly, unwanted, and they don’t add to your confidence levels.

The bad news is that there’s no way of completely and permanently removing scars. The good news is that there are many different ways the appearance of scars can be reduced and improved.

What Are My Treatment Options?

There is a wide range of scar treatment options available with Dr. Karolak, including fat transfer, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and CO2 fractional laser.

Dr. Karolak works closely with patients to customize a treatment plan specific to each individual. The best treatment for you will depend on your skin type, your scars, and your desired outcome.

Fat Transfer

Using one’s own fat as a natural filler is a great way to bring volume back into your skin in a more natural way. Fat will be taken from an area where stem cell-rich fat exists and injected into the desired site. Since your own fat cells are being used, there is no risk of rejection.

Different types of fat can be used to improve facial volume, reduce wrinkles and hollows, and improve the appearance of fine lines, including scars.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

Another effective way of improving the appearance of scars is through platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP is a non-invasive treatment that is used for enhancing results of other cosmetic procedures and speeding up recovery.

It works by drawing blood from the patient, separating PRP, and then injecting it into the target site. PRP then stimulates platelets and collagen production in the area.

PRP is a great option for treating scars from acne or trauma. After a series of treatments, patients should start seeing improved results over the course of 1-3 months, and in many cases even further results from 6 months onwards.

Co2 Fractional Laser

CO2 fractional laser is a type of skin resurfacing treatment. During this process, the laser creates tiny channels in the skin to stimulate collagen production; the skin’s natural healing process.

This treatment is recommended for people who want to treat fine lines & wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and scars. It also does wonders for making the skin firmer and tighter.

What’s Right for Me?

Scars are just as unique as skin type, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to treatment. The best treatment for each individual will be discussed and decided on during a private consultation. With the help of the Karolak Facial Plastic Surgeon team, we’ll create a customized treatment plan to help meet your short and long-term goals.

I spent a few years researching a lower face lift & I don’t remember how I found Dr Karolak but from the very start I felt very comfortable with him and his nurse. The procedure I had done was a lower face lift and a fat transfer, they explained in detail the procedure told me what to expect and answered all my concerns and questions. I had very little pain the swelling was the biggest issue and lasted about a week maybe two this was all to be expected. I take fairly good care of myself by eating right and exercise, but seeing the sagging face bothered me my only regret is not doing it sooner the procedure probably took 15 + years off my appearance. Thank you
